Morbid Angel concert cancelled after structure collapse during Illinois show with Revocation, Crypta
Skeletal Remains perform before roof collapse, 20 ambulances called
Update: WGN9 Chicago are now reporting 1 casualty and 28 injured.
On Friday evening, a structure collapse occurred during a Morbid Angel, Crypta, Revocation, and Skeletal Remains concert at the Apollo Theatre in Belvidere, Illinois, as severe storms with 90 mph winds blew through the area. The collapse involved the marquee and a large portion of the roof. Bricks were also scattered on the street, and trees were down near the venue. Inside the theater, the ceiling in front of the proscenium collapsed, leaving the space open to the outside. Belvidere is located in Boone County, about 72 miles from Chicago.
Morbid Angel later released a statement saying:
"Tonights show is Canceled due to a Tornado that hit the Venue. We ask anyone who is still traveling to the venue to please seek shelter and stay safe. We are currently sheltering in place, and want to extend our support and hope that everyone at the show tonight is safe.
Right now our focus is on making sure everyone in the venue tonight is ok and gets home."
