Whitechapel fail to make Billboard 200 chart for first time since debut
Kin, the eighth studio album from Tennessee deathcore outfit Whitechapel, tallied roughly 4,500 album equivalent units (4,000 in pure sales) in its first week of release in the United States. The total was not enough for Kin to crack the Billboard 200 chart, making it the first Whitechapel album since their 2007 debut to not appear on said chart.
Despite missing the Billboard 200, Kin did manage to land at No. 34 on the Top Album Sales chart and No. 3 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart.
Whitechapel's previous album, 2018's The Valley, sold nearly 6,000 copies in its first week and landed at No. 143 on the Billboard 200, at the time breaking the group's streak of four consecutive albums to debut in the Top 75.
To date, the most commercially successful Whitechapel debut has been Our Endless War (2014), which sold more than 16,000 copies in its first week and bowed at No. 16 on the Billboard 200.
