Russian Circles crowdfund $63,000 in less than one day to replace stolen gear
Following a week in which the lion's share of their gear was stolen and two huge shows with System Of A Down were postponed, things may actually be looking up for Illinois post-metal trio Russian Circles.
Yesterday (October 21), Russian Circles manager Cathy Pellow launched a fundraiser via GoFundMe to offset the group's losses (Russian Circles' insurance had purportedly lapsed). In roughly 14 hours, the campaign raised more than $60,000 in donations from more than 1,000 people. As the GoFundMe surpassed its original goal, new donations are currently disabled.
Following the outpouring of generosity, Pellow shared, "Thank you to everyone that donated. your kindness has exceeded our expectations. this gofundme is no longer taking donations."
