ex-Atreyu vocalist Alex Varkatzas forms new band Dead Icarus

Two days after it was first (though not officially) revealed that vocalist and co-founder Alex Varkatzas had exited Atreyu, Varkatzas expressed an interest in "starting a super heavy band." We'll have to wait and see if it's super heavy, but Varkatzas has now announced plans to launch a new project dubbed Dead Icarus in conjunction with record label Modern Empire Music. Video of Varkatzas' revelation can be found below. Varkatzas seemingly timed his announcement to coincide with the release of Atreyu's new album, Baptize, newly available today.
