Eyehategod drummer Aaron Hill was attacked and robbed in Mexico last night, forcing the band to cancel their scheduled performance at Forum Independence in Guadalajara. The robbery took place as Hill was walking from his hotel to the venue prior to the show. Hill suffered a knife wound on his left side during the incident, though his injuries were relatively minor and he is reportedly doing well. Show No Mercy Promotions issued the following statement (the original was in Spanish; we've attempted to improve Facebook's automatic translation):
"Today, while Aaron Hill walked to the venue, he suffered a robbery. Eyehategod have a driver at their disposal; but they were touring the city all afternoon so he preferred to walk to the venue, for his hotel is very close. Two blocks away, four people intercepted him and took his belongings while one of them threatened him, making a 5 centimeter wound on his left side. He is well, however, it was not possible to continue with the show. "It should be mentioned that neither Forum Independence, nor Show No Mercy, nor Aaron are responsible for this event; it is not possible to walk safely on the street, willing to enjoy your Sunday. "We appreciate the support of the Red Cross and Guadalajara police for their attention. [Governor] Enrique Alfaro, we hope that this crime will not go unpunished and we can enjoy our city with tranquility. "We will explain the refund process later this week."
