Gold & Grey, the fifth studio album from Baroness, has debuted at No. 39 on the Billboard 200 chart, tallying roughly 13,000 in first-week sales in the United States. Meanwhile, the record bowed at No. 5 on the Top Album Sales chart, No. 2 on the Hard Rock Albums chart, No. 1 on the Independent Albums chart, and No. 2 on the Vinyl Albums chart. Baroness' previous album, Purple (2015), sold nearly 17,500 copies in its first week, debuting at No. 70 on the Billboard 200. The album also peaked at No. 51 on the Top Album Sales chart and No. 2 on the Hard Rock Albums chart. Going back further, the band's 2012 double album, Yellow & Green, debuted at No. 30 on the Billboard 200 and sold 12,000 copies in its first week (technically, 6,000 sets of the two-disc album). For what it's worth, if Gold & Grey had been released as a double album, it would have recorded some 26,000 units in sales
and landed in the Top 10 (commenter is correct).
