French technical death metal outfit Gorod have been forced to drop off their spring U.S. tour featuring Psycroptic, Cannabis Corpse and Micawber, which commences tomorrow in New York. The band blame U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the glacial pace of its approval process for the debacle. Gorod have issued the following statement:
"Dear American fans, bad news today... We will finally not take part in the US tour with Psycroptic, Cannabis Corpse and Micawber which will start the 12th of April in NY. In spite of having started the visa process as soon as the tour was booked in October 2018, hiring US lawyers with the huge costs incurred, the US Immigration Service (USCIS) only delivered us the permission to visa application (ICS) last Monday night, so less than 3 days before our departure from France. But this authorization came too late because it is only a first step to obtain visas. We must then complete forms and submit them to the American Embassy in Paris with whom we must make individual appointments (first appointment available on April the 23rd) to obtain the final visa approval. Once the embassy gives its consent, passports and physical visas are finally shipped back by post. All of these procedures take too long for us to start the tour on time. "We're currently trying to do our best to join the tour later but for now but this will cost us even more money because as we didn't get proper visa's denial, no insurance will reimburse anything, plus we will have to face new last minute logistic and administrative fees which can push up the limits of our means too far. "From now on, we have no other choice than canceling the whole thing but we'll keep you in touch in case we figure out any last minute solution! "We are extremely disappointed by the complexity and the delays that are constantly being pushed back to get these visas and sincerely sorry for all the people who wanted to see us, moreover for the package that would have been particularly great... Know that we will not give up to come see you guys despite this disastrous situation. We know that we have a faithful audience for more than 13 years in the USA and we will do our best to come back there."
