The Damned Things (ETID, Anthrax, etc.) to release new record

The Damned Things -- featuring members of Fall Out Boy, Anthrax, Every Time I Die, and Volbeat -- released their one and only album, Ironiclast nearly eight years ago. Two years ago drummer Andy Hurley (Fall Out Boy) claimed to have recorded a few songs for a new EP from the group, though nothing materialized. More than a year ago, vocalist Keith Buckley (Every Time I Die) uploaded a clip of what appeared to be some new music from the band, though nothing more on the matter was said. This week, guitarist Scott Ian (Anthrax) coyly admitted that there is a new record, presumably recorded, though he was clearly reluctant to divulge specifics. Here's what Ian had to say about The Damned Things on the latest installment of the Wall of Sound podcast (listen below):
"We always knew with the Damned Things, it was always going to be something that we would get to do schedules permitting, because we are all in extremely busy bands. But look, we're all friends and we're all in contact with each other on a regular basis and I can say that there is, possibly, a record, but that's all I'm going to say about it [laughs]."
When pressed further, Ian joked, "I don't have any answers about anything." Obviously, we'll have to wait a bit longer for the band's sophomore release, but we expect something substantive to surface in the near future.
