Narcissus calls it quits

Tuesday, December 16, 2003 10:50 AM PT

Ohio's Narcissus have broken up after five years and several albums. Formed in 1998, the group has subsequently released material with Clenchedfist Records and Takehold Records before signing with Abacus Recordings in mid-2002 and releasing their "Crave and Collapse" full-length just two months ago. Here's a statement from the band:

"To all of our family, friends and fans...we thank you for an amazing 5 plus amazing years that you've given us. John LaRussa and I have decided to let Narcissus go and move on to the next step of our lives. Your love and support have inspired us beyond our imagination...and we couldn't have done this without you. Our decision was difficult, but necessary. We're proud to have had one more chance to release our hearts and souls within Crave and Collapse...enjoy it and we hope you remember us by it. Most importantly, we hope that our music could make a difference in this world. That's all we've ever asked."

Look for some of the band members to surface in the near future with other projects, though nothing specific has been revealed thus far.
