Doom Side Of The Moon (The Sword) releases new EP
Official press release: To celebrate 50 years of Pink Floyd releasing music that changed the world, The Sword guitarist Kyle Shutt produced a heavy metal cover of the band's seminal album, The Dark Side of the Moon. Titled, Doom Side of the Moon, the resulting band and album featured Shutt and a host of celebrated musicians including his bandmates from The Sword. Released on August 4, 2017, the date which marked the 50th anniversary of the release of Pink Floyd's debut album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Doom Side of the Moon landed at #81 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. Now, Doom Side of the Moon releases a surprise follow-up EP, the aptly-titled Encore. Encore is available now via all streaming services and digital stores. Last August, Doom Side of the Moon played its first ever live show to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the release of Pink Floyd's first album. At the gig, the group performed its dark and twisted version of 'The Dark Side of the Moon', along with an encore medley of previously unreleased "Sabbath takes" on Floyd hits. Those songs have now been unleashed on the world via the Encore EP, starting with a video for the first track, "Have A Cigar" (from Wish You Were Here). See (and hear) "Have a Cigar" at this location (via Revolver).
Captured at Big Orange Recording Studios in Austin, Texas with the Grammy Award-winning Stuart Sikes (Cat Power, The Polyphonic Spree), Encore features Doom Side of the Moon's unique take on the Pink Floyd favorites "Have a Cigar", "Pigs (Three Different Ones)" (from Animals) and "Wish You Were Here". The vinyl version of the EP -- available in mid-March on "sludged out" green vinyl -- will see the three tracks play as a one-sided 12" single.
