In Becoming A Ghost, the latest album from California technical/progressive death metal band The Faceless, sold roughly 3,900 copies in its first week of release in the United States. The tally was good enough for a No. 16 debut on the Hard Rock Albums chart and a No. 8 debut on the Independent Albums chart. Notably, the record did not land on the Billboard 200 chart, unlike the band's last two albums.

The Faceless' previous album, 2012's Autotheism, sold roughly 7,570 copies in its first week and bowed at No. 50 on the Billboard 200.

Going back further, the band's Planetary Duality (2008) album debuted at No. 119 on the Billboard 200 with first-week sales of roughly 5,500.
