Mastodon score their best sales debut to date with new album
Emperor of Sand, the new album from Georgia rock band Mastodon, has debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 chart with first-week sales of 43,000 (41,000 in traditional album sales). Notably, the record is the top-selling album of the week, landing at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Album Sales chart. This is the band's third Top 10 finish to date. Their previous album, Once More 'Round the Sun, sold roughly 34,000 copies in its first week and debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200, while 2011's The Hunter landed at No. 10 with first-week sales of 39,000.
