Tim Lambesis admits guilt, faces 9 years in jail

Tim Lambesis in court
Tim Lambesis in courtroom on February 25, 2014 As we had expected, today in a Vista, California courtroom As I Lay Dying vocalist Tim Lambesis pleaded guilty to attempting to hire a hitman to kill his estranged wife. As part of the plea deal, Lambesis could serve up to nine years in prison, plus four years of parole after his release, and be fined $10,000. Technically, this means that Lambesis could skate with as little as probation (though that seems highly unlikely). The duration of prison time was apparently not defined in the deal. The Judge will make the final decision, and both attorneys have been encouraged to file pleading papers. Sentencing will take place on May 2nd with Judge Carlos Armour presiding. The parents and brother of Lambesis' estranged wife, Meggan, were in the courtroom today, and were "obviously relieved" according to prosecutor Claudia Grasso.

Looks like the Lord works in a compromising way.

I want to write something clever, but I can't wait to read his memoirs of being beatd in prison.

anonymous 2/25/2014 11:46:56 AM

fourth

anonymous 2/25/2014 11:52:22 AM

California paroled 1800 lifers last month. Their prisons are so overcrowded, I bet Lambesis does 12 months of this sentence or less. Comeback record in 2017.

andysrobbins 2/25/2014 11:53:46 AM

prison flip.

anonymous 2/25/2014 11:55:29 AM

Judge: "I hereby sentence you to 94 hours in federal prison."

anonymous 2/25/2014 11:55:47 AM

Stoked to find out his sentence in two years time

kunt 2/25/2014 11:58:23 AM

anonymous 2/25/2014 12:23:07 PM

So webby, maybe you should change the title since he has not gotten nine years in jail yet. A bit misleading...

anonymous 2/25/2014 12:23:29 PM

Prepare the rear, Timmy.

anonymous 2/25/2014 12:32:06 PM

Their next big hit will be called '78892 Hours'

anonymous 2/25/2014 12:35:27 PM

yeah really. "faces nine years in jail" is accurate. your title, while it'll generate more traffic to your ads, is inaccurate and probably unethical. good journalism, webby!

anonymous 2/25/2014 12:43:20 PM

Alex McCormick here - I regret every balcony I ever jumped off to AILD.

Say it ain't so! what a fcking quitter. Webby, kiss your ad revenues goodbye when this thing raps up. No going to trial = no speedboat for you.

Hibuddywazup 2/25/2014 1:04:01 PM

As I Plead Guilty.

anonymous 2/25/2014 1:18:29 PM

THIRD DAY IN JAIL THEY WILL ROLL OPEN THE CAGE DOOR AND TIM WILL BE GONE. RISEN, ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURE.

anonymous 2/25/2014 1:22:33 PM

He can still lift in prison, right? He can still scream in prison, Right? He won't have to worry about his "wife" anymore, Right? Maybe pleading guilty is exactly what he was hoping for. A stint in Jail is good for a br00tal rep. Sounds like a happy ending.

anonymous 2/25/2014 1:23:31 PM

Alex McCormick here. Tim offered me 10K to stage dive on his wife. He's keeping his mouth shut about my part in it because he's a funtime haver and he knows the bro-code of genuine hardcore and punk culture. rand paul 2016!

anonymous 2/25/2014 5:21:40 PM

This is great fcking news.

anonymous 2/25/2014 5:33:00 PM

Nobody actually read the article. He'll probably get out of doing jail time. HAHAHAHAHAHA *cue AILD Tour*

meatyd 2/25/2014 7:15:00 PM

Attempted murder? It's not like he killed someone. This is a clear violation of my client's civil rights.

anonymous 2/25/2014 7:34:20 PM

He will be riding into jail on a raptor.

anonymous 2/25/2014 8:09:01 PM

At MOST he will actually serve 4.5 years (he is entitled to what is known as "half-time"), less the credit for time served he's earned so far (which isn't' much since he's been on ankle monitoring). It's an open plea, but the Judge has probably already giving an indicated sentence. My prediction is that he gets midterm (6 years), although low term isn't out of the question.

anonymous 2/25/2014 8:25:59 PM

GOD DAMN.... it's not jail, it's fcking prison. There is a difference. Think before you speak.

anonymous 2/25/2014 8:30:17 PM

I guss he will be "CONFINED"

malachi 2/25/2014 10:09:40 PM

Timmy's cheeks are still getting fatter. I guess all that stuff is fattening.

Anybody know if the movie Pain and Gain is any good?

anonymous 2/26/2014 6:36:37 AM

Chaz, rockstars don't go to jail. Christ, Vince Neil only did 30 days and he killed somebody.

anonymous 2/26/2014 6:58:46 AM

^^^^^^ yes.

anonymous 2/26/2014 7:58:39 AM

It's not like he killed someone. It's not like he drove a hateful spear into his side.

anonymous 2/26/2014 8:37:23 AM

He was reported as saying, "Judge not, lest thee be judged, Judge.", to which the judge replied, "frrrttt!"

anonymous 2/26/2014 9:28:57 AM

Holy Shit wow!!

anonymous 2/26/2014 9:31:00 AM

anonymous 2/28/2014 8:49:07 PM

So I can kill my wife, spend nine years in the slammer racking up street cred, spend $10,000, and then be free? That's much better than divorce, alimony, and custody battles.

anonymous 8/20/2022 8:28:39 AM
