Bridge Nine Records signs Iron Chic
Official press release: Iron Chic is a melodic punk band from Huntington Station, NY. Formed back in 2008, the band released a 5-song demo tape, followed by the Shitty Rambo 7inch the next year, and finally their debut full-length, Not Like This, in 2010 - all on Long Island-based Dead Broke Rekerds. The band garnered quite a bit of attention, not only for their music, but also because they were hailed as a "supergroup", featuring members of Latterman, Small Arms Dealer, and more. In the following years, the band released a split 7inch, and toured when they could. Fast forward to 2012, and Iron Chic wrote and recorded what would become the Spooky Action EP, initially offered by via Bandcamp and soon to be available on vinyl from Bridge Nine Records as a precursor to their new label debut coming later this year. In regards to teaming up with B9, vocalist Jason Lubrano commented, "We've all been in bands and making music for more of our lives than not and we've been playing together in this band for more than half a decade. We realized somewhere along the way that this is what we want to do and we want to do it for as long as we can." He continued, "A mutual friend put us in touch with Seth at Bridge Nine knowing that we we're considering having someone else handle our next record. After talking for a bit and after much consideration, we saw that Bridge Nine would be a great help to us in reaching our goals as a band without limiting our creative freedom. We are excited to be working with them to put out a new album and hopefully keep from having to deal with reality for a little while longer." The new vinyl version of the Spooky Action EP will feature two original songs ("Spooky Action At A Distance" and "Less Rest For the Restless") and a new exclusive cover song, "Bonzo Goes to Bitburg" by the Ramones. Bridge Nine Records will release the EP digitally on May 14th and physically on June 25th, 2013. In the meantime, the EP will be up on Bandcamp and will get a European release through Yo Yo Records/Drunken Sailor Records in relation to Iron Chic's forthcoming Euro (& UK) tour that begins later this month. More information regarding Iron Chic's Bridge Nine full-length will be coming soon.
