Silverstein replaces departed guitarist

Silverstein has announced the departure of guitar player Neil Boshart, who has subsequently been replaced by Paul Marc Rousseau. The group has issued the following statement:
"So, as anyone who has seen us play in the last month has most likely noticed, Neil isn't in the band anymore. We have a new guitar player now who is absolutely awesome. His name is Paul Marc Rousseau. You may know him from his old projects I Am Committing A Sin as well as Burst & Bloom, and you've probably seen him on tour with us as he's worked for us over the last few years. It's great to have not only an amazing musician joining our band, but also one of our best friends who was already a part of the Silverstein touring family. We wish Neil all the best with his future endeavours, and stay tuned for some BIG Silverstein news over the next month or so!"

I didn't even remember this band was still around. I remember back in high school all the elitist scene kids were into them and I never understood what was so great about them.

anonymous 9/25/2012 1:00:45 AM

For those of you asking why this band is still relevant: Silversteen will always be relevant. They were the first band to truly utilize the firepower of clean singing and catchy hooks within the metalcore genre. They worked hard for their reputation and they absolutely deserve their status in the music industry.

anonymous 9/25/2012 1:52:15 AM

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that point. There were plenty of other bands that mixed clean singing with metalcore before Silverstein and did it better too. On the softer side, Thrice and Killswitch Engage and on the heavier side Converge, anyone? Not to mention a plethora of other bands like Atreyu, Hopesfall, Poison The Well, FATA, (early) A7X, (early) Underoath, Bleeding Through. All of them emerged before or around the same time as Silverstein and made better music. Sorry man.

anonymous 9/25/2012 2:04:38 AM

The list goes on...Funeral For A Friend, Thursday, At The Drive In (if you want to consider that metalcore), Remembering Never, Beloved, Evergreen Terrace. I'm not Silverstein is necessarily bad; they had a solid career. But to say that they were the pioneer of the melodic metalcore style or even one of the better bands is misinformed at best. (Okay I'm done!)

anonymous 9/25/2012 2:07:12 AM

Yeah, I love those catchy hooks in Converge songs, too! They're like a cross between Metallica and Miley Cyrus... In the best way possible! o_O

anonymous 9/25/2012 11:37:23 AM

Speaking of gay guys singing gay things over gay unfinished riffs, whatever happened to the blood brothers.

anonymous 9/25/2012 12:02:17 PM

Seriously poison the well were the first to use that firepower!!

anonymous 9/25/2012 12:42:25 PM

hearing about all of those older bands jsut got me nostalgic of 2002-2003 miss the days of FATA Bleeding Through, Unearth, PTW just to name a few.

hearing about all of those older bands jsut got me nostalgic of 2002-2003 miss the days of FATA Bleeding Through, Unearth, PTW just to name a few. Agreed. They don't make metalcore like that anymore.

anonymous 9/26/2012 7:41:36 AM

Marc Paul Gossler

anonymous 9/26/2012 12:53:51 PM

Yeah, I love those catchy hooks in Converge songs, too! They're like a cross between Metallica and Miley Cyrus... In the best way possible! o_O Back in the day, Jane Doe and earlier, Converge used quite a bit of clean singing. Alot of their iconic older songs have soft parts (The Broken Vow, Jane Doe, Two Day Romance, Farewell Note To The City, etc). They aren't pop-punk hooks like A Day To Remember or Rise Against but Converge was one of the first to play metalcore with clean singing.

FIREPOWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!! fck this band, they will ALWAYS be shit.

anonymous 3/5/2013 7:16:19 AM

Half the fcktards hating on silverstein up there and saying that Shane Told is a terrible singer/screamer don't even know what they're talking about. And do you dumbasses even know when they started? They put out their first CD in 2001 which means its take about a year or two to get band members together and write some songs. Which means they've been around longer than those shitty bands that one gay mentioned.

anonymous 3/5/2013 7:19:34 AM

And really? You think avenged sevenfold with their generic synchronized guitar riffs and shitty singing and gay nicknames is better than silverstein? HA. If any of you guys knew anything about playing any instrument and you learned Silverstein things as opposed to the guy who mentioned all those shitty bands, you'd see that silverstein has way more talented musicians. Their songs all sound different when compared to each other, UNLIKE avenged sevenfold.

anonymous 3/5/2013 7:25:12 AM

And lastly, silverstein is way better than the shit the haters listen to. Find someone who has a better singing range who can also scream the walls down. The thing is, Shane only gets better as they make music, but nowadays you see artists having to drop the tuning on the instruments because the singer is an idiot and fcked up his throat with screaming. Like I said, talented musicians and you douches don't even know what they've done for the "music" that you haters like.

anonymous 7/24/2013 8:10:49 PM

Well I like a lot of the bands mentioned, but I also love Silverstein. To all of you haters, why are you even saying anything if you don't like them, don't fcking read or write about them then. I've met the guys plenty of times and they are genuinely, nice, kind hearted people doing what they love so get off their nuts if you hate their music. They probably could care less what you think.

anonymous 9/2/2014 4:30:51 PM

Silverstein rules. Keep it up guys! F the haters!
