Vip packages ... creative. Nah kid at Stubbs in atx there's a little sidestage bar area that is for bands only. But if you're not a pssy you just walk past security and thats that. From the sidestage bar you can go up some lil steps and BAM you're onstage. As for name dropping, also meet and chilled with chimaira (w/kevin talley not andols) opeth, a life once lost, log, and I think darkest hour? (could've been another tour)
I wasn't alone I was with a group (3 dudes 2 chicks) chimaira and opeth dudes were cool as fck, the Mexican dude keep trying to convince my friend to go on the tour bus with him but she was trying to fck alol's singer. At one point I ran out of jack and coke and talley went behind the bar and tossed me a bottle. At one point backstage I got passed a blunt to chief in a circle with different members of all the bands but I passed. (had recently quit) I still regret that.
It was a spur of the moment stop for the slaughter tour which I think just started that year. Regardless it was a sold out show. Log headlined. The highlight was after opeths set security grabbed my friends and escorted them onstage. I had seen some roadies with white towels on their shoulders walk by and grabbed a nearby towel to blend in, resulting in me being the only one left onstage.
At one point blythe signaled me to grab him a beer from a cooler they had up there. And as I walked over to him he was doing the omerta intro, dude puts his arm around me and then puts his fist in the air, thats when I looked out over the crowd of well over a thousand screaming, drunken metalheads, all saluting in their own disgusting ways. I'll never forget that moment of sheer adulation... it was fcking great.
Now in a way I can see how this reads as some lame ass fan fiction. Especially since I no longer care for the band and I skipped the part which makes my opinion of this douchebag valid.
