Akimbo breaking up

Seattle, Washington's Akimbo will soon be calling it quits after roughly fourteen years together. Frontman Jon Weisnewski has issued the following explanation:
We decided to stop playing because Aaron [Walters, guitar] is leaving the band for non-dramatic reasons. He just wants to do other stuff. Nat [Damm, drums] and I are completely busy/fulfilled with our various other projects and see no need to drag you people through any more nonsense than you deserve. Also, Aaron is really good, and rather than try and outshine his contributions we'd rather be lazy and just do other bands... The decision was totally boring. We talked for a bit, agreed it was the best call, and started talking about the last show. Nobody punched anyone, nobody was the asshole, voices were not raised. So far in my experiences breaking up with a band is way easier than breaking up with a girl."
Since their formation, the group has released material with a Alternative Tentacles, Neurot Recordings, and Seventh Rule Recordings. Their final show is slated for Saturday, August 11th at the Comet Tavern in Seattle, WA.

How is breaking up with a band EASIER than breaking up with a girl? A band: multiple people, contracts/legal issues, equipment, money. A chick: break-up fun and GTFO

ineedsalt 5/15/2012 9:13:59 AM

the day you break up, i will listen to one single song of yours. i will then pass massive amounts of judgement on you, and belittle you so i feel better about myself

godless 5/15/2012 9:18:33 AM

Bummer, every album they put out is awesome

withoutashield 5/15/2012 9:18:36 AM

Why do all Seattle bands break up??

anonymous 5/15/2012 10:17:54 AM

I seriously read that as "no one punched anyone in the jerk".

duckduckfootloose 5/15/2012 11:48:33 AM

Break-up drama is proportional to the relevance of a band. Sorry boys.

They were a good band. Made constant bad decisions.

anonymous 5/15/2012 11:38:07 PM

awesome band.

bardamu 5/16/2012 11:11:52 PM

sandrider is way better. and their last album was boring as hell.

anonymous 5/17/2012 7:41:28 AM

Too bad. "Forging Steel and Laying Stone" was such a brutal record. I can get down with their other stuff, too, but that one was ace.

can't believe there isn't more love for this band on this site, everyone jerked off to jersey shores when it came out. this band ruled, has been a favorite for a long time. sad to see them go, never saw them live.
