Strife set to record new album

Thursday, February 2, 2012 8:33 AM PT / 3,819 views
Los Angeles based hardcore band Strife will travel to Brazil next week to begin recording a new full-length record. The group has enlisted "long time friend" Igor Cavalera (of Sepultura fame) to play drums on the album. The effort is being produced by Terror's Nick Jett (Take Offense, Lionheart) and will be recorded at Mix Nova Studios in Brazil, and completed at Blood Tracks Studio and Sunset Lodge in Los Angeles. Matt Hyde (Hatebreed, Slayer) will be handling the mastering of the release. Guitarist Andrew Kline comments: "This album is going to be our best release yet… We have been working on preproduction tracks for the last few months, and the songs are amazing… This record is more along the lines of 'In This Defiance,' but with a harder and a little more modern edge… Plus Iggor's drumming is really going to take everything to the next level." A final release date, label, cover art and additional information will be revealed in the near future.

A cover of Minor Threat's Straight Edge will be sung by someone else and a remixed version of Strife's straight edge classics will also be sung by actual straight edge vocalists. Rick Rodney will appear on two tracks singing about the end of the world and photographing strippers.

fck that band so hard. Anybody who is stoked over this obviously forgot about Angerneans. I'd rather listen to a new Thumb album.

"Plus Iggor's drumming is really going to take everything to the next level." Evidently the "longtime friend" notion is bullshit because you can't even spell dude's name correctly.

The only response here should be, why? Change your name and start over.

Strife chose to record in Brazil because of the country's stankest of weed and coldest of brew

ROADRUNNER signed them

Lol @ Igor Cavalera not being able to decide between "Igor" and "Iggor" (which is how he spelled it on the Cavalera Conspiracy album). Oh well, he's one of the best drummers ever in my opinion, he can call himself whatever he wants

big_metal_al 2/2/2012 5:50:50 PM

ohh yay, can't wait!

I've been friends with Iggor since '96 - Strife did the last Sepultura tour with the original lineup back in '97.... I even teched for Iggor on the last Cavalera tour... He's a great friend and a great drummer, and we are excited to have him on the album... Andrew Strife
