Official press release:

The Atlas Moth are one of the most unique and impressive bands in today's metal underground. Successfully combining a three-guitar attack while managing to create a dark sound that melds sludge, blackened techniques and post-rock has set the band apart from other experimental bands in the scene and has made them one of the elite members of the famed Chicago metal scene that has birthed bands like Nachtmystium, Indian and more. The Atlas Moth even has a burger named after them at Chicago's famous metal restaurant Kuma's Corner. Now, these psychedelic slayers are back with a new offering that is destined to turn the metal underground on it's ear.

September 20th, 2011 marks the date that The Atlas Moth will unleash 'An Ache for the Distance', their latest dirge, on the masses. This time teaming with the infallible Profound Lore Records, The Atlas Moth are returning with their strongest release to date. Everything is intensified on 'An Ache for the Distance' and that is displayed perfectly on their first single from the effort, "Coffin Varnish," which is streaming now on Stereogum's 'Haunting the Chapel.'

The sophomore slump doesn't apply to 'An Ache for the Distance' as you see The Atlas Moth develop their prowess and establish themselves as one of the most dynamic forces in modern metal. Expect to see The Atlas Moth touring relentlessly in support of the new effort including an impressive run this fall that will be announced in a few weeks.
