Last week Noisecreep posted a brief interview with The Red Chord frontman Guy Kozowyk regarding his label Black Market Activities, and its recent move from Metal Blade Records to Good Fight Entertainment for distribution of their releases. During the interview Kozowyk revealed that The Red Chord was not currently on the Metal Blade roster, stating "we are currently not under contract with the Blade. You guys [Noisecreep] are the first ones to ask, so there's your breaking news."

Since this seemed noteworthy, we contacted Kozowyk for a bit more information.

When asked if there was any chance that The Red Chord could re-sign with Metal Blade, Kozowyk says, "Metal Blade was gracious enough to invite us to stick around if we wanted. They have been very accommodating with my distribution switch and very understanding about whatever we would like to do in the future. Nothing is out of the question. We have a lot to figure out."

As for whether TRC was in talks with any other labels, Kozowyk responds: "We have been keeping a low profile while we figure some stuff out. Conversations with other labels have honestly been pretty minimal."

What is The Red Chord looking for in a label? "I'd like to try some cool and different release ideas," says Kozowyk. "Everything these days is about being forward thinking and open minded. Priority and creative input on promotion ideas is also important to all of us."

Regardless of what happens, Kozowyk is obviously appreciative of his band's time with Metal Blade, adding, "For the record, Metal Blade has been very good to us and there's good reason why they have remained dominant in metal for almost as long as we have been alive."
