Minus The Bear signs with Dangerbird Records

Official press release: Dangerbird Records is proud to announce the signing of Seattle-based rockers Minus the Bear to their burgeoning roster. The Silver Lake-based label will release the band's fourth LP this spring. "As music fans, we've adored Minus the Bear for years, so we're honored to be in business with them," exclaims Jeff Castelaz, co-founder/CEO of Dangerbird Records. "They had many options, and chose to make Dangerbird their new home. Something we take quite seriously." "After months of looking under rocks and in dark caves, we've found a nice place to nest with Dangerbird Records," explains bassist Cory Murchy. "They are a label of artists for artists and we are very excited to work with their creative minds to continue to bring you quality craftsmanship and the very best we can provide for our fans, both old and the newly educated." Throughout their career, the quintet has garnered critical praise from the likes of Pitchfork, Spin, URB, Paste and Alternative Press and amassed an ever-growing fanbase as the result of their exciting live show and singular sound which showcases their adroit technical abilities. This signing comes directly on the heels of Dangerbird's announcement that Codeine Velvet Club, the new project of Jon Lawler of Scottish rockers The Fratellis, has been signed for Records and management. Dangerbird Records was co-founded by Jeff Castelaz and Peter Walker in 2004, following the inception of Dangerbird Management, which evolved from Castelaz's longstanding Cast Management. The label currently boasts an impressive roster including Silversun Pickups, Sea Wolf, Darker My Love, Eulogies, The Dears, The One AM Radio, Eric Avery, Bad Veins, Codeine Velvet Club and Dappled Cities. The management division currently represents artists including Eagles of Death Metal, The Dears, Darker My Love, Codeine Velvet Club, as well as producer Tony Hoffer.

Minus the Bear is definitely not a "new" band.

Hopefully the label has some sort of taste and won't allow Minus the Bear to release some disco-crap record.
