Dillinger Escape Plan no longer on Relapse

Conversing with some fans yesterday via a message board, Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman confirmed that the group is in fact no longer under contract with long-time label Relapse Records. According to Weinman, "We are off Relapse and will be doing things all kinds of ways now that we have 100% control of the business side of things. Trent [Reznor] has definitely been an inspiration on that front." Meanwhile, the group is gearing up to record their next full-length with Steve Evetts next month, though Weinman didn't seem completely positive that Evetts would be recording the effort. He commented, "Steve is scheduled to do the record, unless he can't for some reason. Then I will probably just do it myself." Finally, Weinman noted that Faith No More recently asked the group to play with them in Europe, stating, "Faith No More asked us to play their headline shows in Europe but we can't do it. I want to shoot myself in the tip of my dick. Maybe we can get on some later this summer or in the fall if they do anymore."

Why would you not tour with FNM? I wonder what the excuse is?

If I see one more "ooooh, their old stuff is better" comment, I am going to find you via IP address and fcking murder you.

obscure 5/27/2009 10:31:13 AM

Can we get back to my beard comment, I feel that that was easily 6.5/10.

Ire works felt like it was about 40% complete when released.

bukkakegrind 5/27/2009 11:09:40 AM

i agree i felt a lot of ire works was filler but the songs were pretty awesome

BONER_JAMZ 5/27/2009 11:10:24 AM

40% burnt you mean amirite? new stuff sounds like NIN. they can suck it.

grape_scented 5/27/2009 11:12:26 AM

break up. and which message board? 4chan?

dannibalthecannibal 5/27/2009 11:22:56 AM

"...Trent [Reznor] has definitely been an inspiration on that front." So goodbye to the metal and hello industrial? Ire works was about 50%. Does this mean 10% or less? hmmm...

LOLMONSTERTRUCK 5/27/2009 11:33:43 AM

fck this band. fck Ire works. That cd was about as cool as fcking getting beatd by a horse. This band needs to flip off a cliff. Into a farm. And get beatd by horses to death.

I never heard anything off ire works and I really have never been a fan, but are there people that honestly would really be that into hearing calculating part II after all these years? that spazzy tech shit got so old I feel

Whiskey_Casserole 5/27/2009 2:02:55 PM

^^^^^That's all I'm saying.

lookatmeimtough 5/28/2009 12:56:53 AM

obscure 5/27/2009 9:33:24 AM "carry on with dick tip shooting, unless next album sounds like calculating" really? calculating was a great album indeed, but why would you want to listen to 2 albums full of the same material?

loki 5/28/2009 1:13:20 AM

old stuff is better you fcking bitch

rickrock 5/28/2009 3:00:42 PM

This band jumped the shark hard.

xscarlitox 5/28/2009 11:53:17 PM

the only reason this band still exists is because of the success of calculating...do we want/need another calculating? fck YES

maddholly 6/1/2009 5:59:36 PM

you guys are lame. most of ire works is way more technical than anything on calculating.

xMETHxCOREx 6/2/2009 8:32:35 AM
