Turmoil announces singer, debuts new song

We were the ones to originally break the news that Nate Johnson had joined Turmoil, so it's only fitting that we bring you the official announcement from the band in addition to an exclusive offering (via Flash below - wait for it to load) of their new track, "Papercuts." Here's the official word from Turmoil: "We are very excited to tell you that we have our new singer, and his name is Nate 'Everybody's Favorite Band Whore' Johnson. An observant bartender submitted a video of him doing his best Turmoil karaoke at Local Moose Lodge #42 in Ossipee, NH, and he fucking nailed it. Hopefully he'll stick around for more than 6 weeks. In all honesty he contacted us, told us he has been a longtime fan and submitted a demo. He has a great voice, great presence, and most important of all he is excited about the new recording. We've been trying to keep it under wraps since November because we wanted to present the news along with a finished version of the song 'Papercuts' to let it speak for itself, but due to the fact that he lives so far in the middle of nowhere that we could only reach him via carrier pigeon, it took a little longer than we planned. Here it is, hope you dig it."

meanmuggin 1/23/2009 5:21:07 PM

When I saw nate johnson with premonitions of war, the pa went out and no one could tell. Dude is loud as fck.

forumdrama 1/23/2009 5:43:24 PM

Most hilarious band situation write up ever. Turmoil > your favorite gay hardcore band.

LordOfAllFarts 1/23/2009 6:42:34 PM

Nate has quit 20 different bands? He has? I thought he only quit TTEOTD? Premonitions dissolved, Since the Flood broke up, and so did Deadwater Drowning. That's it. No, I am not he. I am the Lord of All Farts. Inhale.

horseheadxbookends 1/23/2009 6:44:37 PM

shit was good, stop crying

conduit 1/23/2009 6:53:38 PM

The process of was awesome so even though its been a decade I'm looking forward to this

stooooopid 1/23/2009 8:10:16 PM

i dig it. ive always dug nates voice and ive always dug turmoil. nate and turmoil=good stuff

xDEDICATIONx 1/23/2009 8:30:37 PM

drewxblood 1/23/2009 8:39:57 PM

can't listen at work, this shit better not suck. music ruled but my expectations are low for the vocals.

TronxTaylor 1/23/2009 10:21:06 PM

fck Nate Johnson. fck him.

mikebythesun 1/23/2009 11:38:51 PM

Yeah Nate. Was always a fan of Turmoil and, though Gula will be missed, I'm glad the band is moving on with a powerhouse on the mic. Nate sounds like a truck barreling down an alley full of baby carriages. Looking forward to the next record!

drewxblood 1/24/2009 12:05:17 AM

dude is strong on the mic, just not feeling it for Turmoil. whatever, still buying the record and jamming it hard.

mortimer 1/24/2009 12:42:18 AM

nate was burnt by the sun's new singer at one point, when they had that brief lineup.

mortimer 1/24/2009 12:43:36 AM

also, this rules, and he sounds way better doing this kind of music than the more metal oriented stuff he was doing with tteotd.

JohnnyJohnny 1/24/2009 3:55:34 AM

He sounds exactly like 'Clients' era Red Chord.

bensy 1/24/2009 4:41:03 AM

I guess it's OK.... it's just not turmoil though.

xMP5Kx 1/24/2009 5:00:01 AM

Everybody except Pushnik needs to hit the treadmill.

atthegatespwnsyern00bz 1/24/2009 5:20:07 AM

Meh. I'll pass.

xsongsofselfx 1/24/2009 5:37:28 AM

potentially legendary record RUINED

dot357 1/24/2009 5:50:20 AM

I fear xsongofselfx could be right on this ... fcked up

topman 1/24/2009 8:23:26 AM

still better than 98% of the other shit out there

sgd54 1/24/2009 11:25:36 AM

Way to be innovative, and way to evolve. 15 yrs after the bands inception and you sound more by the numbers than anyone could possibly imagine.

thedrone 1/24/2009 1:01:58 PM

who cares how many bands nates been in , the song is great , it blows away all the other gayry you chodes are sucking off

josephet 1/24/2009 1:46:25 PM

pretty solid

lucifersoffspring 1/24/2009 3:51:02 PM

i cannot really find a negative thing to say about this.

mazda_liberation 1/24/2009 6:49:25 PM

xjustinx 1/25/2009 5:27:27 PM

Clearly, I would have been the better choice.

loki 1/25/2009 11:21:44 PM

hey everyone!! that song was pretty fcking boring!

xNihilistx 1/26/2009 4:19:29 AM

hell yea. this is the shit. turmoil has always been sweet. now they're bad as fck. nate is the man. end of story.

DaveClinch 1/26/2009 5:43:09 AM

I still cant get over a dude said Turmoil was never really good. The nerve!

supernintendo_chalmers 1/26/2009 1:34:21 PM

this would have mattered 15 years ago, not now

Lochlan 1/27/2009 6:52:38 AM

JohnnyJohnny 1/24/2009 3:55:34 AM He sounds exactly like 'Clients' era Red Chord. word. Song rules.

fuckeveryone 1/27/2009 8:40:57 PM

pretty terrible, uninventive, repetitive and annoying. fck this band and everyone who thinks they're "siiicck as fuuuck!!!1111!!".

BallsDeepInYourMom 1/28/2009 1:00:32 AM

Hahaha.. Its only a matter of time before Nate gets bored with fcking these guys in the ass and moves on....

Boiling666 1/28/2009 11:21:42 PM

This is a terrible direction for Turmoil to move in. So generic. Another Acacia Strain/Recon type band. FAIL.

Boiling666 1/28/2009 11:22:40 PM

GENERIC as fck! 666

StreetsofRage84 1/29/2009 3:01:43 AM

It's time for turmoil to move on and eventually say, hey we want our butts filled with c-m too.

m_kwd 1/29/2009 7:53:37 PM

TURMOIL not very good?! please remove your head from your ass and foot from your mouth.

BulletT00th 2/2/2009 4:38:44 AM

This dude wants to be gula so bad but isn't worth the sweat off of his balls!!!!!!!!!!!

anonymous 12/2/2011 10:56:55 AM

anonymous 12/2/2011 2:20:16 PM
