I definitely failed hard a few times too though, lol.

Decided I was gonna be tough guy mosh pit in an environment and climate I never experienced, didn't wear sunscreen. Got so sunburnt that I had bubble blisters all over my arms, legs and neck and head, I would put on a shirt in the morning for the next 3 days and my arm would be wet from their rupturing lol.

I had gotten dehydrated because I lifted a compacter up and out of a four foot pit before Realizing they had divided teams for these specific duties, and kept working too hard, ended up taking a giant swig of Rum one night when everyone was out at some festival near Ica and fell asleep under these grape vines in the smoking area. Got so dehydrated and drunk sick I started puking, tried drinking water, woke up with a mini lake of regurgitated water next to me about 15 minutes before people started flowing in lol. I spent about 40$ American on Sporaid (Gatorade stuff) and liquids.

I almost got blamed for two dogs chasing each other and breaking through a thatching wall. But luckily I was able to do hand signs and use a few words to convey it was dogs and I was just leaning it back up against the bamboo post lol.

One time I asked a woman if they had a Catholic Church, and apparently the Quechua and Catholics are not a good relationship, so every day for like 13 days I was her lifting bitch and would do the heavy lifting for her on base when she cooked.

During the time, my ability to do construction fix work landed me a makeshift position as Base Maintenance. Which was cool, I got to basically walk around and do whatever I wanted. Pretty fun stuff, idk. First time on the program was just ripping down Sheetrock and we were in a hotel, wasn't there cultural experience Peru was. Peru is f*cking aweomse, even though the streets are full of diaper eating puppies and burning mounds of plastic, and you can't flush toilet paper. But it's agricultural and the towns people work the fields during the day and then run the Barrio chino at night, like a giant open air market and the street traffic is shoulder to shoulder. Met a guy who was a scholar from one of the state universities there, he's asked me about going back for a year long term building in the Quechua villages near the mountains. I don't think that's gonna happen w travel restrictions.

Sounds like an awesome life experience. Good for you.

Before I left, the thatching I tried to fix from the dogs had become completely trampled. But I have to say, thatching and bamboo are f*cking surprisingly durable construction materials.

imagine being too stupid to realize you should wear sunscreen and drink water while working construction in the desert.
feastondeadgirls 8/1/2020 1:11:26 PM
It's about being tuff bro

I'm glad to see you in good spirits and doing well and much better for yourself. I too was gonna ask how all this traveling happened but you gladly explained. Lol

Where were the hottest women? That's the real question.

Met a pro firefighter from Cali. He was really into fitness, so we built a pull up bar structure out of eucalyptus, bamboo, and rebar. This 60 year old dude, who was just awesome, was doing all kinds of fancy pull ups and putting us to shame.

They had a basketball court, but whoever built it smoothed tf outta the concrete. So you just slipped around if you were wearing shoes. The locals used it for futbol and would play barefoot. I never tried becuase I knew it was gonna be like standing o a skillet but one of the prepared and cool af Americans who brought a basketball decided to go it shoeless. He had to have his blister cut off in a barbaric pseudo surgery lol

imagine being too stupid to realize you should wear sunscreen and drink water while working construction in the desert.

Imagine reading about someone doing it and being too weak to do it yourself, even with the sunscreen, or even try.

Also, I drank plenty of water. You're obviously unaware of physical exertion rate vs working in the open sun. It only took me a week to acclimate, so lol. Shut up.

I was more concerned about impressing the thick chested strong boys from Incan Lands. Those dudes f*cking do work. It's awesome.

The most beautiful women? In Peru, Lima, I heard Mina Flores was really popping. The French girls were all gorgeous, and a lot of the British women. Overall, though, Spanish chicks.

I pedal for 4-5 hours straight at 10K+ feet every weekend bud. Stow the tough guy bullshit, not everyone here is a doughy loser.

There was a woman who worked w programs out of Chile who came to base for a seminar, she as f*cking stunning. She came in on a f*cking pocket bike too. And had a leather jacket on. Last I saw, she was organizing mask baskets for people down there in Chile. She was the hottest woman I saw there.

Did you just compare a pedaling class to the type of labor that occurs in the developing world? Lol. Ok, that's the last time I reply to you or take you serious. It's not just the work. I slept on a 1 inch thin mat, in the open air, on the desert floor, woke up at 5a and worked till 6p. You should at least try it, it's fun. Then you can brag about using sunscreen to your pedaling class. :-)

Of note there are bunks, but they were imo less comfortable than just sleeping on the ground with a light pad.
barbara 8/1/2020 1:22:09 PM
It's not a class, it's climbing mountains you idiot. Great job, you went down to south america to do construction, which is what they come to the US to do, for pennies on the dollar. Very cool mission trip.
