i'm figuring just repeating statements like "that didn't happen" a whole bunch is probably sufficient. how would you handle such an unavoidable interaction? violence, at least for now, is out of the question...dude won't take the bait anyway...

Innocently ask for evidence. Pictures and such. Ask why his/her combat buddies don't get together more often. Ask for lots of details. Whatever makes it evident to everyone else that this person is a lying piece of shít. Find someone that's really a member of what this person claims to be and all questions about that someone.

I prefer allowing people to fill in the blanks and embarassthemselves while they think they are showing off. Not sure how just being rude to get him to talk to you is "trolling"

Somewhat like boredtodeath said

A funny one from some tv show i forget, the father character was a marine and some fake army guys came to the house, and he played a trick by doing thw wrong grunt, hoo-ahh, noise thing and the army guys went with it, ignorant to the fact
KlDCADAVER 5/16/2019 3:07:54 PM
he said OHH AH AH AH AH and then they all got down with the sickness
MAROOF 5/16/2019 3:09:07 PM

it's an unavoidable visit with a childhood friend. interaction is highly likely.

I mean people that do this are retarded, right? Like taking cosplay too far.

definitely severe issues under there for sure. homeboy's got severe abandonment issues, too...dude got kicked out of two bands & refuses to admit it, even twenty years after the fact.

i think it's like a job security thing for this guy people don't seem to care enough to actually check. i used to call him out directly all the time, & he'd back off...also, asking about his VA benefits was always a good way to shut it down. he always lied about being enlisted, but now he's gone to the extent of generating a fake DD-214. it's like watching a slow trainwreck...dude's been on this military charade for over 10 years now.
Donovan 5/16/2019 6:55:22 PM
Heres a legit question... why do you care at all
nothinlefttogive 5/16/2019 9:23:23 PM
Homeboy recently faked his way into my profession. I'm in IT Security...we don't like imposters of any kind, & it's a slap in the face to real vets looking for work. There's good paying work in shouldn't go to fakers...
Donovan 5/16/2019 10:39:35 PM
Lol, blow your brains out dude
nothinlefttogive 5/17/2019 10:41:53 AM
no way. would rather blow this guy's brains out if not for the hassle & potential consequence.

i also had no idea how prevalent this practice'd think there would be better mechanisms to protect against that sort of fraud.
