ex-Testament bassist Greg Christian: "It sucks to be poor and famous"

Thursday, May 1, 2014 7:56 AM PT
Greg Christian played bass for thrash legends Testament from 1983 through 1996, and then again from 2004 until January 2014, at which point his departure was announced. While acknowledging his 48th birthday on Facebook on Tuesday (April 29), Christian mentioned that he was "still kind of in shock by how everything went down with Testament." Additionally, he stated that "there are no 'bros' in Testament. The catch phrase coined by the Chief [Testament frontman Chuck Billy] himself is every one man for himself, and it's taken to a sickening extreme with zero humanity."

After a few media outlets (e.g. Blabbermouth) picked up Christian's comments, he returned to Facebook to clarify his sentiments:

"Wow. I made a post saying thanks for the [birthday] wishes / I'm having a tough time / I feel dehumanized by the band, and it's now all over everything. I honestly had no idea anyone cared. Now I'm getting ripped on left and right.

"The bottom line is after all the history and touring — once the band got to a point of turning a serious profit — it was made perfectly clear to me that I was never going to share in any of it and never get anything beyond a day rate, that never went up once in 8 1/2 years, while I watched everything else get bigger and grander every step of the way. And if anyone wants to rip on me for feeling dehumanized by that, I don't care — they're entitled to their opinion. But so am I. And my opinion is — it sucks to be poor and famous."

A lot of people are going to assail Christian for whining, but he does have a point. However, he's not famous. So sadly, he's poor and almost famous.

He is the ORIGINAL bass player from 1983, not 1993, you dumbass webby. Don't even think you're getting street cred for reporting this from a 3rd rate news site like blabbermouth. Go back to reporting on Emmure T-shirts and As I Lay Dying's new crap band.
