What does a random city and gross ticket sales have to do with anything?

Interesting i guess.

Just goes to show if you want to make money doing music and you're not playing Rise Records-style teeny-core, you're doing it wrong

Metal fans are convinced that millions love their favorite bands.
Album and ticket sales tell a different story.
These bands play at 1000 seat venues and often don't sell out. After expenses, the musicians are often making $300 a night - same as local top 40 bands playing weddings and the Holiday Inn. Metal is far less popular than fans are led to believe.
Numbers don't lie. Look for yourself.
