Luminiferous, the new album from Oakland, California metal band High On Fire, has debuted at No. 110 on the Billboard 200 chart on the strength of roughly 6,000 units sold in its first week of release in the United States. Meanwhile, the outing landed at No. 2 on the Hard Rock Albums chart. By comparison, High On Fire's 2012 release, De Vermis Mysteriis, debuted at No. 63 on the Billboard 200 chart. It should be noted that its release was prior to Billboard's retooling of said chart, making it difficult to compare chart positions. However, from a sales standpoint, the 2012 record did moderately better, selling 7,400 copies in its debut week. Snakes For The Divine, released in 2010, has been the band's most successful sales debut to date, garnering first-week sales of 8,600 and premiering at No. 63 on the Billboard 200.
