New England Metal & Hardcore Fest 2016 not happening?Tuesday, January 5, 2016 1:19 PM PT
Earlier today, one of our readers asked us what was up with the 2016 installment of venerable metal festival, New England Metal & Hardcore Festival. I'm honestly not sure, but I was reminded of an anonymous news submission Lambgoat received on November 4 from someone that stated, "RIP New England Metal and Hardcore Fest. Not happening in 2016." At the time, I dismissed the seemingly ridiculous claim. But fast forward two months and we've heard not a peep from festival organizers. No dates, no lineup, no anything. This certainly does seem strange. Last year, the dates were announced in late November, while the initial lineup was revealed in early December. The previous year, the initial lineup was announced in late November. Unless NEMHF 2016 will not be taking place in April, as has been the case for the past decade or so, time is running out. While we have no concrete information regarding the festival's status, something does indeed appear to be amiss. Stay tuned... MINOR UPDATE: Since posting this, we've repeatedly heard that festival founder Scott Lee has moved to Oregon. Strangely, the aforementioned anonymous tip came from an IP address located in Oregon. I don't know what that means, but it seems mighty coincidental. Meanwhile, someone on Facebook claiming to be in the know had this to say: "Not true!... The dates will probably be announced in the next week or so. If I had to guess it'll probably be the weekend of April 22." Take that for what you will. One way or another, I fully expect that we'll get to the bottom of this today.
