Hailing from New Orleans, Soilent Green began in October 1988, playing its blend of stoner rock, grindcore, and metal for the Louisiana scene. The band would record its record its only demo in the early-1990's, landing them a record deal with Dwell Records. 'Pussysoul' would be Soilent Green's debut full-length in mid-1994. More touring would occur for the band, as they also showed up on a split 10" with Grief, and a double 7" compilation 'Cry Now, Cry Later,' both of which were released by Pessimiser/Theologian in 1995. 1997 would be a defining year for Soilent Green, as it toured with Pantera and Clutch down south. Following the tour, they would enter the studio, recording tracks that would show up on 'A String of Lies,' a CDEP released by Relapse Records. Further touring with bands such as Brutal Truth, Eyehategod, and Crowbar would build up the band's fanbase. 'Sewn Mouth Secrets,' the band's debut full-length for Relapse, would be released in 1998, and more recently, the critically acclaimed 'A Deleted Symphony for the Beaten Down' in late-2001. read less
