Formed by members of Trial and Harkonen, Himsa came together in 1998 as an outlet for members to vent their political, social, and emotional rage. The name Himsa, is derived from Sanskrit, and has varied meanings, most dealing with violence. Quickly picked up by Revelation Records, its debut, self-titled, 7"/CDEP was released in mid-1999, while its debut full-length, "Ground Breaking Ceremony," was published in late-1999. The band has undergone several personnel changes since these releases, but has recently put out its latest effort, "Death is Infinite," on Revelation. Fans of progressive, technical metal should give Himsa a listen. read less
