What started as a simple way to kill boredom and have fun among friends, evolved into the respected and hard working band otherwise known as Nora. The original lineup - featuring ex-Endeavor and current Burnt by the Sun vocalist Mike Olender on guitar, and Ferret Music boss Carl Severson on vocals - came together with "The notion that music should be rooted as an expression of the friendships and common experiences that make us a unit is one that's carried through the band's history to date, remaining the central core of our approach both to music and to life." The band would release its first recording, a CDEP titled 'Kill You for a Dollar,' on Severson's own label. Continuous touring and writing of new material would be documented by its split 7" with New Jersey's Dillinger Escape Plan, and its second CDEP, 'theNeverEndingYouLine' on Jersey's own Trustkill Records. Following the two releases, the band experienced a number of lineup changes, but would finally solidify. The result: Nora's long awaited debut full-length, 'Loser's Intuition,' on Trustkill, and constant weekend touring in 2001. Nora's music may be best described as driving hardcore riffs and grooves, with a hint of metal, occasional melody, and breakdowns. Further, the band offers something that has slowly faded away among current hardcore bands and records - challenging lyrics with explanations. hide
