Washington D.C.'s Darkest Hour formed in 1995 as a four-piece band, playing what could be best described as metallic hardcore. After a year of playing shows, the band would release its first CDEP, 'The Misanthrope' on Dead Truck Records. Following two years of relentless touring around the East Coast area, DH released its second effort, 'The Prophecy, Fulfilled,' a CDEP on D.C.'s indie-rock label Art Monk Construction Records. The CDEP continued to exhibit DH's developing style of metallic hardcore with black and death metal influences. It wasn't until 1999, after several personnel additions and changes, that the band finally found its niche sound, playing no-frills, Swedish influenced metalcore in the vein of legendary melodic death metal acts At the Gates and In Flames. The band joined NY based MIA Records in late-1999, and released its debut full-length, 'The Mark of the Judas' in July of 2000. DH was dealt a heavy blow, however, when MIA Records folded at the time of its record release. After a year of touring and searching for a new label, the band found a new home with Chicago's Victory Records, and released its second full-length 'So Sedated, So Secure.' Additionally, DH has joined forces with Join the Team Player Records, which re-issued the out of print 'The Mark of the Judas' in 2001. Fans of melodic, Swedish influenced metalcore will find Darkest Hour to their liking. read less
