Oh sweet Jesus, I think my head is going to explode. I don't know how many more chaotic bands I can listen to now. From A Second Story Window just played me 300 riffs in the span of 42 minutes. Where do I start As with many bands that I listen to for reviewing purposes, this is my first time actually checking out From a Second Story Window, and Delenda is their second full-length album. These guys play a style of metal/hardcore that mixes in death metal, grind, and some progressive tendencies. I suppose it could be compared to the styles of bands like Between the Buried and Me, or The Red Chord. What stumps me is the fact that out of all the riffs (and there are a lot), there isn't much to grab onto. There are points during this album that should have been developed more. These guys know how to whip out some cool riff, but it sounds as if they are trying to fill every song up with as much as they can. Right when I think a certain part of the song is going to turn into something interesting, here comes an open-D breakdown. It sounds like they didn't know where to go next, so they said, "Fuck it. Let's throw in a breakdown. Write one really quick." Basically it sounds like FASSW have just crammed too many riffs into one composition instead of really trying to create cohesive, memorable songs. I'm not sure what's going on with the track "Ghosts Over Japan," but it's completely different than everything else, and not in a good way. It's basically a clean-singing track over some piano lines, and acoustic guitars. It sticks out sorely on this album. I'm not saying that everything here is just a big mess, because it's not. There are some parts in certain songs that are catchy, but there's not enough for me. Luckily, the vocals are dynamic and powerful. The listener is given almost every range of scream and yell. When these songs take a speedier approach and begin to touch on the death metal side of things, I tend to perk up. I can hear that FASSW know death metal, and they start to put together some good sounds. Unfortunately, like other almost-good parts, they don't really capitalize on these brief journeys. There are also one or two slower, sludgy parts, with a good bass tone, but these are also cut off before anything exciting happens. Bottom Line: This album is competent, but nothing to get super excited about. The guys in FASSW have potential to create some good metal, and they just need to work on their songwriting skills. Then again, if you like chaotic songs with many, many different sounds and influences, you'll dig this.

this is one awsome ass cd, not as good as their first because of the bitchy ass vocals in this one...

al_ 8/15/2006 10:54:10 PM

this is by far the shittiest band to date. no talent what so ever. and technical. hell no. just shit. and as live performance-that is all there about.

anonymous 10/26/2006 3:14:28 PM

right...this band definitely sucks...you people are idiots...and those "open D" breakdowns are actually pretty sparse on this record mcfeters...how about we get some people who actually play music to review these records

mcfeters_ 10/26/2006 3:17:41 PM

*head explodes*

twangy_ 10/26/2006 3:24:51 PM

Yeah, I don't know about this review. Seems kind of rushed. I like your other reviews better.

sam_ 10/26/2006 3:43:41 PM

remember when they got beat up? that was lolz.

toomuchhuge_ 10/26/2006 3:47:15 PM

This review doesn't have any glaring syntactical flaws. Someone must have attached McFeters' name to it by mistake.

Gluck_ 10/26/2006 3:48:02 PM

This review makes perfect sense. The album sucks.

!!!_ 10/26/2006 3:51:34 PM

Kids who like this shit don't give a f*ck about little things like competant song writing.

anonymous 10/26/2006 4:18:40 PM

bottom line, rob is a f*cking idiot and doesn't know shit. How do people like this get jobs like this?

pee_ 10/26/2006 4:26:55 PM

Girate_ 10/26/2006 7:10:32 PM

Those "open D" breakdowns are actually drop A, just sayin'

Nick_ 10/26/2006 7:22:16 PM

Drop A? Sounds like the greatest band ever!

Nick_ 10/26/2006 7:24:10 PM

I pretty much agree though. 6/10 for me, but still nothing overly special. Not as shitty as goaters say, and not as awesome as scene kiddies think.

matt_ 10/26/2006 7:41:15 PM

this cd is actually pretty good, why dont you actually listen to the album a little bit better before reviewing it like a dumb ass mcfeters

ipaintmycrimes_ 10/26/2006 8:07:11 PM

f*ck this shit band. probably the worst thing to come out of my hometown. detatch that ohiovania shit off of my home and go eat aids.

xnvb_ 10/26/2006 9:39:46 PM

i agree with whoever said this review seems rushed. i think it deserves higher than a 5/10. i've seen far worse albums get higher rankings.

nightmare_ 10/27/2006 1:12:46 AM

this review sounded very hurried. like, im not saying its a bad review, just very uncohesive. like the reviewer just strung together a bunch of random sentences without trying to make a memorable paragraph. there were some good adjectives, and a couple of good nouns, but nothing to really get excited about. compared to the reviewers first review its a big improvement, but i dont see myself reading this review again anytime soon.

Dreezy_ 10/27/2006 2:14:56 AM

I love how lambgoat reviews CD's so quickly, lol. Didn't this album come out months ago? Get with the program fellas.

XxscenefagxX_ 10/27/2006 2:23:04 AM

ZOMG I have to hardcore dance to this sooooooo baddddd.......fap fap fap

girls who run_ 10/27/2006 6:38:22 AM

bad review rob. and you're my favorite of the bunch (i.e. the only one that shouldn't be beatd to death). i think the lambgoat staff just flat out sucks at reviewing.

wizardsbeard_ 10/27/2006 7:29:18 AM

I don't really enjoy this kind of music, but, in terms of overall adherence to a chaotic aesthetic, having one song be completely different stylistically actually fits (rather than breaks), the pattern. Having all chaotic songs is not chaotic.

gozer_ 10/27/2006 9:08:36 AM

i actually like "chaotic music" and this review makes me want to check it out now.

CuntSnot_ 10/27/2006 10:11:30 AM

god, this band is so bad... 0/10...

anonymous 10/27/2006 10:37:12 AM

hardcore dancing should die.... at the hatebreed show the other night the gay hardcore kids got f*cked up

haha_ 10/27/2006 1:13:33 PM

^--------tremendous f*cking gay

Pnuttxo_ 10/27/2006 2:17:39 PM

this album is amaaazing! If you can't handle the technicality then get out!

threexs_ 10/27/2006 2:45:55 PM

I like this album alot, this review has some good points, but my only complaint is that some of the songs run a little long. I would give it a 6-7

xomertax_ 10/27/2006 5:07:15 PM

Technicality? HA! This band is just shitty. They TRY to be technical.

anonymous 10/27/2006 11:18:14 PM

f*ck HARDCORE DANCING gayS

Littlebus247_ 10/28/2006 1:49:08 PM

All I'm going to say is a band like Terror writes the same album 4 times and they get reviews at 9/10, 8/10 etc... Just like the posters on this site, the reviewers on lambgoat have no idea what the hell they are talking about. FASSW is a great band and good dudes. Yes... FASSW has an EP and ONE full length.

jared_ 10/28/2006 7:38:36 PM

i think there ep was way better so yea i agree with this review

hulkhogansmullet_ 10/29/2006 3:11:23 PM

The sound of Delenda compared to their EP is completely different. We are pretty much talking about a completely different sound, and with the edition of Will, we also have completely different vocals. This CD simply was not planned out well enough. Will's lyrics are "different" but full of incomplete thoughts/sentences - the music is extremely diverse, but let us not get this confused with being "technical" - the guys can shred, and granted play some tough stuff, but technicality IMO is bas

hulkhogansmullet_ 10/29/2006 3:12:41 PM

^^^ excuse the grammatical errors above.

cum all over my face_ 10/29/2006 6:35:49 PM

hulk said it!!! /\

XswingawaymerrillX_ 10/30/2006 12:45:02 PM

This is the worst review I have ever read.

justin_ 10/31/2006 5:43:52 AM

blood in blood out should have killed them all instead of just beating them up.

Uffe_ 11/3/2006 11:23:36 PM

And I was hoping that they had called it quits

kyle_ 3/4/2007 1:11:56 PM

i thought this cd was really good. ive never heard anyone play music in this sort of dynamic way. throughout the cd it changes alot..which i think if a great thing.
