the oath that keeps me free from my contractual obligations with victory so i can make more money on a bigger label.
in BTBAM's defense..the reviewer constantly bashes them, saying that this was unnnecessary, but BTBAM did this cover album to get out of their contract with Victory
um, if that's the case, i would call it unnecessary too. Don't become a lawyer.
BTBAM is still the best at what they do regardless if you agree or disagree with them choosing to do a cover album. It was just for fun so don't read into it so much.
Dude, a 2 is generous. this is such a pile of shit. They butchered Blackened and every other one i've heard. 5 minutes with this cd was to much
I don't think they "butchered" anything on this record, though some tracks ("Cemetary Gates," "The Day I Tried to Live") aren't as strong as they could be. I'd give it a 6 - definitely not a must have, but not entirely a waste of money either. The King Crimson cover is ace.
couldnt agree with this review more. Its obvious which songs they actually put effort into...and its only maybe 3 of the 14 songs.
I can't disagree with anything in this review, Cory hit the nail on the head. "Malpractice" is really the only interesting song on here, everything else was just cookie-cutter versions of the originals (with worse vocals). And the keyboard sax on "Us and Them" was really lame.
ThePRP gave an 8/10 to this album.. shitty stuff
It wasn't that good but I'd do it to get off Victory too.
first of all, this album wasn't to get off victory. i know that first hand, they still have a couple releases to go. second of all, this album is to help support them on ozzfest...considering the label fronts $75,000 for second stage acts to get on the damn thing (rediculous) so, thats *part* of the reason this album was released. hope that helps.
anyone who thinks this shitty f*cking band put out this shitty f*cking cd to get out of their shitty f*cking contract is a f*cking moron. these dudes should be thanking their lucky stars a label of victory's caliber would even consider releasing their records. there's no where to go but down.
honestly, i really enjoyed this cd.... i found it to be really fun... i love the soundgarden cover.
Yeah... I totally disagree with this review. I was a little disappointed, but the whole "has no replay" statement is shit.
Its no shock to me....that Cory sucks balls.
"a label of victory's caliber " hahaha yea, 'cause Victory is such an impecable label with some of today's most incredible and respected bands, right?? ha
hah go team victory! comback kid, with honor, silverstein, dead to fall.. some of the worlds best. hah
great band, but spot on review. this disc was terrible, and i agree wholeheartedly. covers are supposed to be the band's own spin on influential songs, not dead on note for note covers.
Hey lambgoat in response to this..."It's a bizarre cross between self-importance, shameless moneygrubbing and naivete that just boggles the mind. " This album could just be a way to get out of their contract. I know for a fact Victory likes to f*ck over all their bands.
bad review, it takes balls to cover those bands, especially king crimson who owns every band out there, it shows another side of them as musicians obviously this album was not meant for you
dude, f*ck you cory and f*ck all of your reviews you worthless piece of shit. biased motherf*cker. go f*ck yourself bitch
I just want to say to you Cory, if you're reading this, that I have lost the little respect I had for your reviews. Not due to the fact that I love the album, I definitely respect your opinion. It's your shameless display of musical pretentiousness that really threw me. "This song is from that album, ACTUALLY they are named after a Counting Crows songs regardless if that anecdote has anything to do with this record." I'm a fan, and I was not "duped" into buying this record. I strongly beli
I disagree with this review on pretty much every level, and enjoy the disc thoroughly. Not bashing Cory, I tend to think some of his reviews are a good read, but this one is probably the most I've been against. Also don't see why people get so worked up over 1 person's opinion. Seriously.
i agree with this review 100%. every word in this review is dead-on correct.
the best cover by far here is three of a perfect pair, and the worst is definitely malpractice. not a bad cd, but not worth purchasing either.
This band really sucks, as does this album. Excellent review, spot on.
f*ck YOU LG REVIEWER LAMBGOAT HAS THE WORST REVIEWS EVER I HAVE YET TO SEE A REVIEW ON HERE WORTH A DIME THIS CD ROCKS
btbam is one of the most talented bands out there. whoever thinks they don't deserve where they are is a f*cking idiot. period.
if you didn't pay for the cd, its worth it. if you did, you're an idiot for paying for a cover cd.
the Sax on "us and them" isnt a keyboard... its a sax. true story
"a label of victory's caliber " hahaha yea, 'cause Victory is such an impecable label with some of today's most incredible and respected bands, right?? ha posted by ckk () on 7/10/2006 9:48:01 PM---------------------------------------------------------------------------------nowhere did i mention the quality of the music victory was releasing. anyone who has been paying attention since 1999 realizes victory sucks horse shit now. that isnt the issue. the point i was trying to make before you t
They still have two more cd's with victory you MORONS. read before you leave comments. Three other people have written the same thing that I am writing, its wasn't about there contract. King Crimson was awesome, Pantera was lame along with the rest of the cd. Cory is a moron along with everyone that posts on this website. Victory sucks my ass and so does every band that is calls themselves "hardcore". Hardcore bands should not even be aloud to call themselves musicians let alone even buy an inst
stole this from hottopic today.. no way i'd pay for this.
Seriously, f*ck Victory and everything they stand for...they push all the wrong bands...oh what's that, perfect murder or whatever their name is lost their singer again and they're on WHAT tour? why isn't motherf*cking RINGWORM on more tours? f*ck it all. -Tubes
I AM SHOUTING ON THE INTERNET BECAUSE SOMEONE DIDN'T LIKE MY FAV BANDS NEW TITE CD
I will no longer take your reviews seriously. This album is a display of talent, of wich you are apparently blind to.
sure, the covers are mostly straightforward, but i think the coolness of the album lies in the song selection. i like that they're putting out the message that it's okay to venture outside of whatever musical genre you may be stuck in. you know, don't feel weird about liking different styles across the board. BTBAM is amazing, and i really dug this album; if it gets one 15-year-old to pick up faith no more's "angel dust", then it has certainly done it's job.
Regardless of whatever people want to read into it, I would hope that BTBAM recorded this for the fun of it and to pay tribute to some kickass bands. I'll agree that some tracks were less exciting than others, but these guys have proven their talents once again... This deserves a 6 or 7.
most of these tracks were solid, a few were mehhhh choices... shit review though, only thing cory nailed was calling out the sketchy motley crue cover.
i'm with the first guy the metallica and queen covers are awesome. The rest of it is pretty much garbage.
"...so his attempt to emulate their vocal styles on their respective songs proves nearly as annoying as his electronic side-project Giles." YEP
"twodegreesbelow", if BTBAM is lucky for support from Victory, then what does that say about the other tripe on the label that BTBAM is clearly far superior than? If anything, Victory is lucky to be able to say they are home such a talented band.
If they wanted to record a CD to get out of their contract, they could have set up a 4 track at a show and release a live album. That would save alot of time and effort.
Though musically gifted, BTBAM somehow became boring as f*ck. Not a care in the world about the band or various rumors about tasteless Victory Records or this waste-of-time-and-money cover album. I just like to throw two cents in the direction of certain subjects in which my opinion will be unappreciated because I'm bored and life sucks.
They have so much talent that it pisses me off!!
The vocals make it sopund like church music hahaha.
Hahaha This review met my opinion of this monstrosity of a cover album perfectly. Terrible in every regard... Nothing was done to make these songs even remotely interesting and the production was waaay over-cooked.
The FNM track is an embarrassment. "Blackened" & "Forced March" were done well (competently) among others. it was good for one listen or so, thats about it due their lack of creativity with the songs selected.
Between the Buried is amazing and lambgoat has bullshit reviews, damn every time i read a review on a good band like BTBAM they make the band look like crap. Makes me sick how shitty these people are at reviewing bands. They probably gave the new Bury your dead cd a 10 out of 10. ((gays))
Listen guy, we're all pretty much fans of BTBAM, but that doesnt mean when they take a giant shit in Digital format, we'll all hail it as a modern marvel of metal. It is crap dude. And yeah, the new Bury Your Dead turns this BTBAM cover album into toilet paper, Im sorry.
Amazing band, average CD... better than 3/10 though.
why did they even give anything for this gay crap
Good to ok album and f*ck victory. Not jumping on the "f*ck Victory" band wagon, but its true from what I read of former bands they had and former employees. They screw over all their bands and make their workers due things like if they were a f*cking mafia or at most a shitty little nieghborhood gang sometimes trying to put "hits" or threaten not just haters but sometimes even their own bands or people. Its true! Oh yeah, like someone said about the reviewer he never gives this band the respect
I really like this album, and yes, they are obvious choices, for any other band, but this is undeniably the best versions of all these songs. Except territory, but it was close. BTBAM did these songs far superior to the original artists...there, i said it
f u i give it 4/10 nigga u smell like french fries
Reading this review actually hurt. Cory is f*cking retarded.
This is the most inaccurate review of a band's work in history. Cory, you should be f*cking ashamed to call yourself a fan of music; let alone, metal.
We should all accept that Cory has totally and utterly missed the point here.
