Our score 5

When I first starting listening to Paradigm in Entropy, Bleed the Sky's first full-length, I thought I was listening to Chimaira. This band sounds almost like an exact clone of Chimaira's last album, The Impossibility of Reason. The only thing that I can give Bleed the Sky is that while they may be a pretty big rip-off, at least they do it well. Every aspect of Paradigm in Entropy is executed very well, and the band's performance is air-tight. It's just really hard for me to get past the Chimaira comparison. At the core, Bleed the Sky plays a thrashy style of metal, with some hardcore, death metal, and melodic elements thrown in there. They even have an electronics/sampler member, just like Chimaira. The guitars are thick, and there's tons of overused double-bass, a healthy use of the word "motherfucker," and gigantic "mosh" breakdowns. The vocals are, for the most part, a venomous scream, until the melodic passages come, and then he sings like some nu-metal vocalist, which actually fits the music. Every now and then, Bleed the Sky cranks out a decent, thrash riff, and, when it is accompanied by some great tom-work on the drums, it can be very catchy. Unfortunately this doesn't happen very often, but I definitely can't take away from the band's ability to play their songs. There aren't any jarring transitions between riffs, so I'm sure these guys put a good bit of thought into their song-writing. I just wish they had expanded their focus, beyond copying one band. The production of Paradigm in Entropy comes courtesy of Ben Schigel, who has also produced (surprise, surprise) Chimaira, and is absolutely crushing. There's not a part of this band that has been left behind in the mix. However, it seems like the band hasn't really taken advantage of their great production. All the instruments, and tones sound great, but, somehow the song-writing just isn't complimented that well. Bottom Line: This record is so similar to Chimaira that it is hard for me to hear anything else. Unfortunately, Bleed the Sky can't quite get to the level of musicianship that Chimaira has attained, and I'm afraid that's not saying much. This album sounds professional, and is performed flawlessly, but that can't save mediocre song-writing.

i win!

Rob McFeters Sucks_ 4/26/2005 12:39:46 PM

youre an idiot. This sounds like Chimaira? Maybe a few of the riffs do, but not nearly enough to make them a clone. But the vocals sound nothing like Chimaira, matter of fact they sound more like the guy from NECK then any other band. Musically, it reminded me of God Forbid's newer stuff but not as stale. I think this packed a little more punch. another shitty review from lambgoat. while 5/10 might be worthy...the contents of what you based it on is pure bullshit.

^ what is this guy above me, 10 ?

chaffe_ 4/26/2005 2:08:35 PM

"Unfortunately, Bleed the Sky can't quite get to the level of musicianship that Chimaira has attained, and I'm afraid that's not saying much." I'm not going to say that Rob McFeters is an idiot, but I think Chimaira is awesome.

ThousandBleedingStars_ 4/26/2005 3:47:50 PM

This cd is abolutely amazing! Its just as good as Donnie Darko (Directors Cut).

Its Tragic_ 4/26/2005 4:34:33 PM

bleed the sky of what? What does that even mean? I think rain is as close to a bleeding sky as you could have, and thats not very evil, and the end result of a bled sky would i guess be sunshine and sunshine isnt evil at all, unless they are going for an overly complicated Skin Cancer thing, i dont know, maybe i just dont get you kids with your rap music and your hair.

haha, the guy that produced this used to be in a nu metal band called Sw1tched. This band gay.

PalmerMAn_ 4/27/2005 3:01:18 AM

You know what just listen to Himsa and solve your problems

Papertigers_ 4/27/2005 8:01:39 AM

himsa suck

PalmerLCC_ 4/27/2005 12:24:45 PM

Apparently you have no respect for musical talent. Those guitar players will shred your face off.

ipoopedinyourcloset_ 4/27/2005 2:00:30 PM

This is what happens when nu metal and metalcore make love... What's scary is it's done very well, and I like it. I know most of you won't, because everyone hates metalcore and nu metal. These records apparently sell themselves.

bigego_ 4/28/2005 1:26:01 AM

not the best, but doesnt really sound like chimaira...i only heard that one mp3 though

prodigal_son_ 4/29/2005 12:28:31 AM

I don't know why this album got sucj a bad review. Yeah they sound a little like Chimaira, but the vocals are completely different, and since when was it not a compliment to kind sound like Chimaira? This album is really good, give it a listen and then come talk shit...

insideyou_ 4/29/2005 12:54:14 AM

*talks shit*

Chris_ 4/30/2005 5:54:40 AM

Sorry, Rob, but this album is at least an 8/10. And really - to say that BTS are an exact copy of Chimaira is a bunch of BS. Which Chimaira song sounds like 'The Martyr' or 'Gated' again? - It's funny - there are 5498 faceless HC and metalcore bands out there that suck the big wang and a band like BTS who can actually put together some interesting tuneage that's both brutal AND catchy gets semi slagged off. Bottom line - 'Paradigm In Entropy' is some of the best extreme metal '05 has produced

gerg666_ 4/30/2005 1:57:16 PM

the fact that you think the Soilwork and Norma Jean are among the best metal of 2005, shows how little you know. f*cking moron.

Ohhhhh_ 5/2/2005 12:46:51 PM

I don't care who it sounds like, this album is solid. The band sounds like it was a nu-metal band before and turned into a nu-metal-core band. I don't give a shit, it sounds good. Roadrunner is going to eat this shit up by the end of the year.

?_ 5/6/2005 2:57:34 PM

Another piece of shit review from this piece of shit website.

Ron_ 5/10/2005 2:27:49 AM

This is the greatest metal band to have walked this earth. Everytime I hear it I go into the nearest corner and masturbate

\m/fucklambgoat_ 5/14/2005 2:43:55 AM

give this album a chance before you give this review any credit, the chimaira comparison is not nearly what he makes it out to be.

Jason_ 5/14/2005 6:20:54 PM

I downloaded 3 songs from this album, and was severely disappointed. With everyone saying how good this band was...I was expecting something decent. This band is boring, trite, metal.

DEADFORWEEKS_ 5/15/2005 11:42:10 AM

This marks the new beginning for nu-metalcore... hahaha. I can't hear anything vaguely similar to Chimaira thus it means this guy needs to expand his narrow alleyway musical horizons. But f*ck this album rules.

cprice_ 6/12/2005 3:28:26 PM

a band doesn't have to be original to be good, just because bands X, Y, and Z already exist doesn't mean that no one will ever be better than them or that the fans don't want to hear more music in the genre ... this album is textbook perfect metalcore, and any fan of the genre is sure to love it.

mike_ 9/23/2005 9:53:09 AM

this shit stiiiiiinks, you people can't be serious. this band is full of dipshits as well. i'm just glad they got rid of that snot-nosed whitetrash 14 year old bassist that they used to have. I wonder if they still have that sleazy as f*ck name dropping sob manager. My friend has his p-coat. f*ck THIS BAAAAND.

JXP_ 11/2/2005 3:54:39 PM

Bleed the sky kicks ass. Theyre good live, the albums great, and they are cool as shit in person. Oh and they dont sound much like Chimaira Retards.

STUPID_ 3/2/2006 9:46:35 AM

BLEED THE SKY IS f*ckING AWESOME how about a 10 out of 10 f*ck queer review

Jose_ 5/18/2007 2:51:13 AM

I dont Know why Rob McFeters,(the guy who reviewed Paradigm in Entropy), thinks that these guys are trying to copy Chimaira. I think some people just love horrible music. However, I do like one of their tracks in their new CD but not even that could save the album. Chimaira sucks balls and they should be trying to copy Paradigm instead.

anonymous 7/17/2007 3:04:04 PM

everyone who hates metalcore can eat a fat dick

Andrew Bradford_ 10/18/2008 2:29:05 PM

Bleed The Sky Rules! Their new album is the shit. How come it's not up on this site.
