Mayhem Festival Cruise cancelled

Remember the
Mayhem Festival Cruise we
told you about in May? It was going to feature a bunch of bands (Lamb of God, Machine Head, Hatebreed, etc.) performing on a cruise ship in the Caribbean for four days in December. Well, it's been cancelled. Here's the official word:
Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we have been forced to cancel the Mayhem Festival Cruise. If you purchased a cruise package, you will be automatically refunded to the credit card you used to purchase. If you used a prepaid card or gift card to purchase the cruise, please contact Rose Tours for your refund (215-663-8800). If you used a credit or debit card, you will see the credit within the next 2 to 3 weeks.
We are also offering anyone who purchased a cruise ticket a lifetime complimentary pass to the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival Summer Tour. You will still receive your cruise refund in addition to the lifetime pass to the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival Tour. This pass is valid on any tour date beginning in 2013. Details on getting these lifetime passes will be announced shortly.

Nice try with the lifetime pass but I figured you out. The tour always sucks so much that is probably going to be the last year so offer lifetime passes then announce next February or March the tour is no more...Genius...

i wsa going for hatebreed and the cruise. spend a few days in south beach then the cruise. i thought it was a cool idea. lifetime passes to mayhem fest? I will sell that life time pass to whoever wants it for 100 bucks. holla at me. Im allset with mayhem fest bands.

this. it was way too overpriced. nobody's gonna pay that unless they are rich.
the 70 tons of metal thing is something that works because it's semi-underground bands and I imagine more than a handful of record companies pitch in to make it happen, those euro labels have lots of money... so it keeps the prices relatively low for tickets. this cruise was a dumb idea from the get go.

A previous version of this commentary incorrectly included the band Hatebreed in a list of white power bands. Hatebreed is a self-described "hardcore metal" band. CNN regrets the error.

the cnn thing is funny. in 2002 i was 16. i was working at stop and shop. I wore a hatebreed hat to work. One night a black manager who was new called me into his office. he asked me about my hat and my lip ring, then claimed i was racist. I told him i was not and hatebreed was a positive, not racist band. after our talk he made me vacuum and clean shit that was the janitors job, not a carrage pushers job. the next day i told the gen manager about it and the dude got fired for defamation.

Insurance. It is always insurance. Companies refuse to cover a herd of grimey ass drunken metalheads who will push mosh each other off the ship. Too bad bad luck 13 couldnt play and sink the whole damn thing anyways
