The Black Dahlia Murder replaces bassist
Monday, April 23, 2012 7:41 AM PT
During their performance over the weekend at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival,
The Black Dahlia Murder introduced their new "full-time" bass player,
Max Lavelle. For video of said introduction, go
here. Lavelle has previously done time in a handful of bands, including Despised Icon and Burn In Silence.
We're not sure what happened to previous bassist
Ryan "Bart" Williams, who has been with the band since 2005. Neither the band nor Williams has addressed his departure thus far.

It's not like the bass player matters in a metal band

^ only to keep the live set from sounding like its coming from a phonograph.

As it was, Ryan stayed home on an international tour due to a minor injury I believe, so it doesn't surprise me that he probably got accustomed to being home. It's a shame though, he probably had one of the best work ethics I've ever seen in a bassist for a metal band.

Max was already playing on that last tour they did with Skeletonwitch

a few years back he broke his hand and tore his cast apart with pliers so he could play all the shows. Thats dedication. Sad to see him go.

max has invested his income from bdm into to commercial piloting courses and has undertaken a full time project to lead high altitude skydiving classes in which preparation and execution have left little time for any kind of public statement from him and the band as this venture is strictly classified due to military involvement.

The new guy doesn't fit the band, at all.
He has awkward stage presence.
and to the guy who said "bass players don't matter in a metal band'' you are ignorant and idiotic.
anonymous

Yup, any band I love is automatically crap once a bass player demonstrates "awkward stage presence"...it's always a deal breaker for me, for sure. Band over, entire catalog is obsolete.

New guy is prob awkward because he learned the songs recently and is getting adjusted. Bassists don't matter? Guess you don't play music.

Whoever said bass doesn't matter go to the fuckin warped tour boards and talk to your own kind of people. Stupid ignorant gays

everyone is saying bass doesn't matter because 95% of bands now-a-days basically just use bass to fill out the sound. especially newer metal bands where you can't even really hear the bass at all. i bet most people couldn't even pick it out of the mix unless it was a solo. not bashing on bass playing, because i know it has a very real purpose. but don't get so butthurt when people make a joke about it.

all that matters is the bass and the movement
