As I Lay Dying names producer for new album

Grammy nominated San Diego metal act,
As I Lay Dying, are proud to announce that
Bill Stevenson has been enlisted to produce their next album this May! Bill Stevenson has played drums for both the Descendents and Black Flag and is one of the most highly renowned producers in rock. His production credits include work on records by Rise Against, NOFX, Propagandhi, The Casualties, Anti-Flag and many more.
As I Lay Dying is recording this spring, with album release expected in the second half of 2012. As always, the band members are very active on Twitter and bassist/vocalist Josh Gilbert has been posting images from the studio to chronicle the writing process. Follow Gilbert via the band's official Twitter
account. Track titles, album art, new music, behind-the-scenes video, and more will be revealed as they are made available.

Album will sound like everything else they did, sound byte for sound byte. You haven't been able to tell which song came from which of the last few albums they've done and you still won't be able to with this album. This bands redefines generic.

All I'm gonna say is that AILD live show is one of the best and most on point shows I've seen. And a lot of the bands you probably all like today, posted about on Lambgoat, have most likely all been directly or indirectly influenced by this band. All you guys just can't like this band because it's probably not enough 'breakdown, breakdown, riff, breakdown, breakdown, riff, breakdown.'

bands that have made or continue to make music (metalcore) like as i lay dying that are better:
granted, a lot of these bands have broken up but the ones that stayed together are better because they have evolved beyond the simplistic formula after one or two albums. the same cannot be said for aild.

i could go on ad infinitum but what's the point? the reference to at the gates and stuff like early/mid 2000s dark tranquillity, in flames, and soilwork are obvious because this band copped their riffage (in a dumbed down plagiarism), dropped any sort of lead guitar, and lost their metalcore element by forgetting how to write quality lyrics. they're a bunch of shitty hacks.
