Pelican has been solidifying new material as of late, having written a handful of new songs in recent months. Three of the new songs were debuted during their August tour of Europe. Here's what the band says about the new stuff:
"Got some heavy shit in there for sure, and we're upping the tempo at times quite a bit -- so you can expect less total drone and slow movement. We've got a fourth one now that we're proud of -- the middle section seems to pay tribute to Pink Floyd's 'Echoes.' The rest is fucking earsplitting MBV territory."
At this point, Pelican hopes to enter the studio in December to record a new full-length, which will likely hit stores in summer 2005 through Hydra Head Records.
