The Devil Wears Prada announced that keyboard player
James Baney was no longer in the band roughly a week ago, the immediate reaction was confusing. When I read the statement, I just assumed that he had been fired. When you say something like "With great deliberation and difficulty, we have decided to part ways with our keyboardist," it seems pretty clear.
However, on the band's Facebook, and on other news sites like ours, everybody was saying that Baney
left the band. Additionally, his wife posted some comments online that seemed to solidify that notion. So after originally Tweeting that The Devil Wears Prada had dismissed their keyboardist, I issued a correction stating that Baney had actually quit.
Well, fast forward a week, and I guess my original instincts were correct, because Baney has issued the following via Twitter, stating that his exit was neither his decision, nor his wife's:
"While I appreciate the support, one thing should be cleared up. Leaving the band was not actually my decision... The other members extended their prayers to my wife and I, however, she was not a factor in the process at all... I felt it necessary to deliver her from any prejudice surrounding the departure... but to also clarify that I have no intentions necessarily of staying home for future work. Thanks again for all the continued support."
