In a new interview with PropertyOfZack, Attack Attack! drummer Andrew Wetzel revealed that the band is no longer under contract with Rise Records, and is considering releasing their next album themselves.

Shortly after completing their last album, This Means War, Attack Attack! set to work writing its follow-up. In fact, the band has already tracked ten songs for their next record with producer John Feldmann (Good Charlotte, Panic! at the Disco), which they plan to "tinker with throughout the year."

Wetzel explains their logic: "The cool thing about it was writing in that timeframe, already having a record finished and preparing to be released and waiting to go in the stores. We just sort of wrote whatever the hell we wanted, no consequences, reached as far as we wanted because at the end of the day, were not obligated to release any of that stuff by a certain time. You know obviously we need to follow up this record with that record release eventually, but for this one, it's like: if we write all this stuff, sit on it, and then in June, circle back and listen to it again and start writing some more on it. And if we hate everything, we just throw it away. We've got the time to do that."

Wetzel added, "This Means War was our last record with Rise Records. We don't have another record label or anything lined up and probably not planning on going to another one. So it's like we've got this sitting around that we can do whatever the hell we want with whenever we want."

Regardless of what Wetzel says, it doesn't seem likely that the band will self-release their next album. This Means War sold 17,000 copies in its first week, debuting at #11 on the Billboard 200. This means that the band will likely receive a few decent (i.e. hard to resist) offers. We'll see what happens.
