Official press release:
The Outaouais Rock team is coming back in full force with a monstrous fifth edition of Petite-Nation Rockfest, the one and only rock festival in Eastern Quebec, with MusiquePlus returning as the Presenting Sponsor for a second year.
Headlining this year is Canadian band Alexisonfire along with American bands Anti-Flag and the legendary Misfits. Many pioneers of the Quebec alternative scene (Grimskunk, Vulgaires Machins, Malajube) will be performing as well along with European bands (Lofofora, Tagada Jones, La Jarry) and some of the best bands from the area (Deadly Apples, Aarsen, Oscar B.). To top if off, Metallica and Nirvana tribute bands will be closing both nights!
All in all, over 60 bands will be performing on the D-TOX and NRJ Main Stages, as well as on the SUBWAY Third Stage. On top of the diverse billing, the hosts will be Maxim Martin, the well-known stand-up comic, Mathieu Marcotte (spokesperson for the festival) and Jeff Labonte, the now-famous underwear guy!
It would be unfair not to mention the numerous sideshows and activities on the site, the local artists, the merch booths and many surprises. Also, the Rocker Contest 2010 is back, giving fans the opportunity to vote for their favorite band to win a spot on this year's Rockfest.
New this year, a campground will be available on the site in order to accomodate visitors from other areas. Located only 75 minutes from Montreal and 50 minutes from Ottawa, the Rockfest is easily accessible to all. For those who don''t have transportation, we have low cost bus packages available every year all over the area (Ottawa, Gatineau, Petite-Nation) and elsewhere (Montreal, Laurentians, Ontario). More than 10 000 people are expected in Montebello for the 2010 edition.
Outaouais Rock has recently won the Ovation Prize at the Grands Prix du Tourisme de l'Outaouais for the Festivals and Events category. The festival will thus represent the Outaouais area in that category at the provincial awards ceremony on May 7 in Montreal.
