If you need to present this question to a messageboard full of weirdos, you don't deserve either job.

Do a cost-benefit rearysis. Weigh the pros and cons.

Salary, benefits, 401k,etc.

I didn't mean to be rough.

Job transitions are difficult.

Godspeed.

Is this a job thread?

I'll give some personal experience.

I worked for Sharp(like the TV) for over 10 years. Had a good, steady job. Paid good, had near top seniority. I had it made. It was very travel heavy though, which was wearing me down at the time.

A former co-worker had told me about an opening with Apple. I jumped on the opportunity and got the job. Moved from NJ to CA by myself.

I worked there a nearly 2 years, got married, had a kid, then shit started going downhill. I worked near sweatshop hours, rarely saw my family, and started balding because I was so stressed.

I said fck it, took a job with a smaller company that had an office in NJ and moved everyone out there.

haven't got a ton of info yet...& shit will get interesting because i've also got an iron in the fire closer to NYC (& a mile from somewhere I can live rent-free). that & my current boss might get in on the bidding war.

san diego is very appealing, i must say...

do you live closer to NY or CT.. meaning.. are your expenses comparable to what they would be in San Diago

Kev,

I have 2 buddies that work for Apple in Tech Support. 65 hour work weeks, not enough pay. The stress of the job forced one of them to get divorced and then became a violent alcoholic. The other one is gay (not in the biblical sense).

Ive lived in Ct for 12 years and I can say it's pretty ok. I assume San Diego is better than pretty ok. If that helps at all.

in any case, i'd be moving from reasonably priced rents/real estate to expensive, not quite atrocious rents (def. won't be buying any time this year)...Stamford, CT seems to be about on par with SD. I live right near Waterbury currently, so my cost of living isn't bad at all.

I got paid decent, but we seemed to cycle through lower paid developers pretty frequently. Some of my team would come in still drunk/high, fck shit up, then go nap somewhere and leave the rest of us to clean up their mess. It got more frequent and when our workload increased we were fcked.

Near Waterbury? You in the valley, bro? 1/2 my sales territory is in the valley. Let's drink a beer together
