And the extended pack's life of 3 hours on high setting seems to be pretty much on the money. Medium I believe is 8 hours, and low is 36 maybe.

Anyone looking for a fucking awesome trail light, I just did a two hour ride with an MJ-808U, and holy fuck it's an awesome light. Feels very close to 1000 lumens, probably around 750-900. Definitely the brightest LED lamp I've used so far. I kept it on medium most of the time and the trail was really well lit. Really good throw, the spot isn't distracting, the flood is a nice warm yellow that doesn't wash out details. Highly recommend.

find a trail that's ACTUALLY tough not because youre flying blind
The trails I ride are pretty technical. Lots of roots, rocks, loose sand out of nowhere, hairpin switchbacks, horrible climbs, and scary-as-fuck downhills, not to mention really sketchy bridges. It's sketchy even during the day.

searching around for a bike light i found this blink steady. it's a pretty cool concept. pricey though.
If you're looking just for a back road light, that's a really cool concept. However, a little $15 one will likely do the job just fine. Back lights don't need to be super bright, as they're pretty visible in 90% of all conditions.

i've thought about getting a light for my bike only because i sometimes go early in the morning and it can still be dark. maybe notsomuch now during the summer, but more for the spring or fall.
Usually bike packs have reflective material on them, or you can put reflective tape on your bike. No one on my night rides usually wears a reflective vest.

I made it out last night with only a bloody knee. The group I was riding with made it out fairly worse, one got caught on a stump next to a swamp, couldn't get his shoes off the clipless pedals, and got completely covered in shitty, stinky mud. Another dislocated his thumb hitting a tree on a 50° downhill. Everyone had fun regardless though. Riding trails at night is a very different experience.

i mean, im not denying that the product works. riding trails at night seems like a pretty dangerous idea. also these headlights are like over 100 dollars.
$100 is pretty cheap in terms of bike lights. The equivalent of these a few years ago was around $200-500.

Plus biking at night actually feels a bit more fun. It forces you to quicken your reflexes and lets you learn the trails a bit more.

Right now I'm using a Minewt 350 and a Cygolite Epilion 600. They work fine for illuminating up to about 50' in front of me, but I am starting to hit more technical trails and need more distance.
