gynecologist pissed about the band name 'Dying Fetus' on festival poster

Dying Fetus on FortaRock poster

A gynecologist in the Dutch municipality of Nijmegen noticed a poster for FortaRock 2015, a metal festival slated to take place in June in the Netherlands, and was less than pleased when he saw that a band called Dying Fetus was playing. He took to Twitter to voice his displeasure:

Dutch gynecologist doesn't enjoy seeing the name Dying Fetus on posters

For those of you not fluent in Dutch, this translates to "Calling on the town of Nijmegen to remove billboards for death metal festivals with band names like 'Dying Fetus'!"

This isn't exactly a surprising statement coming from a gynecologist, however, Dying Fetus has been around for roughly 25 years, and as death metal band names go, it's not particularly shocking. Regardless, his displeasure was picked up by the largest newspaper in the Netherlands. You can read their story here, but of course, it's in Dutch. A rough translation of the piece can be found below.

Gynecologist Bertho Nieboer of the Radboudumc hospital in the city of Nijmegen called on the city to remove posters for hard rock festival FortaRock. Nieboer finds it offensive that expectant parents are faced with the name Dying Fetus, one of the bands performing at FortaRock. Nieboer put his complaint on Twitter.

In remarks to newspaper De Gelderlander, the gynecologist says that the unseemly posters are adjacent to the hospital. "If someone like a child is lost, it can be very intense to see that band name so larg. A child lost is very significant," said Nieboer.

A municipality spokesman, however, told De Gelderlander that is has no control over the posters. Robert Korstanje of FortaRock also points out that Dying Fetus nothing to do with dying fetuses: "I understand the point of Nieboer, but the band name is far down on the poster. Someone who is not interested in the festival will not read it carefully."

There are only two things i hate in this world. People intolerant of other peoples cultures and the Dutch.

The irony here is that Dying Fetus has some of the most progressive lyrics in death metal, particularly off of the albums that matter from them (Destroy the Opposition and Killing on Adrenaline).

Does this idiot not understand that any press is good press. Now a shit-ton of people that have never heard of Dying Fetus are seeing their name. Labels that pay for Facebook likes couldn't get this kind of press. Get it together, crease doctor.
