Formed among several friends in mid-1998, Missouri's Not Waving But Drowning (NWBD) practiced for six months before recording several tracks. At this point, NWBD would experience a slight change in its line-up, but would solidify for the next two years. The band would play nearly every notable club in the St. Louis area, opening up for high-profile acts, such as ZAO, Earth Crisis, Hatebreed, and Jimmy Eat World. Recording a self-released demo in late-1998, NWBD would be offered an opportunity to work with Household Name Records in Europe. The band's debut full-length, "If Its Too Cute... Set It On Fire," would catch the attention of Alabama's Takehold Records (Few Left Standing, Narcissus). Takehold would release the album stateside in the winter of 1999/2000, receiving acclaim from Terrorizer and Kerrang!. Since then, the band has toured vigorously, while writing new material for a forthcoming release. Chaotic and, at times, indescribable, fans of Botch and Every Time I Die should check out NWBD. hide
